About "yukidaruma" (yukidaruma - 雪だるま) :
The Japanese snowman is called 'yukidaruma' after the name of 'Daruma' (Bodhidharma), the founder of the Zen Buddhist sect. Yukidaruma is built with two snow balls when western ones are usually made of three. It has also no arms, no carrot noes nor broom.
About "Daruma doll" (daruma - 達磨) :
The Daruma doll is a hollow and round Japanese figure representing Bodhidharma, the founder of the Zen buddhist sect. The Daruma doll is considered as a talisman and Japanese paint one of his eyes when they make a wish. If it comes true, they paint the other one.
