Girls' day (hina matsuri - 雛祭り)

On the third of May, Japan celebrates the Girls' day or Dolls festival. Dolls of the Emperor (Odairi-sama) and the Empress (Ohina-sama) as well as followers and musicians are displayed on red platforms. This tradition is followed by most families with a girl.
