One of the most famous hero of the Japanese folklore is called 'momotaro' (peach boy). The legend is that he was found in a giant peach floating on a river. Rescued and brought up by an old couple he then leaves to live many adventures. On his way he befriends a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant.
