Happy coat (happi - 法被 or 半被)

The happi is a lightweight jacket or coat which is often used as a sign to identify a group of people. It can bare the name of a company or of an organization and helps the public to recognize their staff. It is also widely used during festivals. In the old days, the happi was warn by servants. In that case, the family crest of the Master was printed on. Because of the sound of the word, it is often called in English a 'happy coat'.
