Sarubobo (saru bo bo - さるぼぼ)
Sarubobo is a traditional lucky character from the region of Takayama (Hida region). It has a human shape with a large round head and a bright red skin. Sarubobos are considered as lucky charms and are sold as a local souvenir (dolls, mobile strips, etc.).
